THE UNITED STATE OF WOMEN

EQUALITY. DUH. LITERALLY. DUH.

Women’s rights include a diverse set of causes, from reproductive rights to education to equal pay. So in 2016, the Obama White House wanted to host a women’s summit that brought together women from across the country to work towards one common goal: gender equality. To make this happen, we needed to create an event and supporting campaign that was accessible to all. What resulted was The United State of Women, not only a summit, but an entire movement dedicated to women’s rights in the United States. One that still exists today.

I came up with the name, "The United State of Women,” wrote and co-directed the film, and put out a social media campaign, website and more that resulted in trending #1 on Twitter, over 2.6 billion impressions, and most importantly, big steps taken toward achieving gender equality.

We built a pledge generator so that anyone could declare how they'd do their part for the #StateofWomen, shared quotes from the women in the film and of course, inspiring moments from the event itself.

Then This happened

As if getting to work with Michelle Obama, Meryl Streep and Kerry Washington wasn’t enough, as a thank you for all our work, we got to meet President Obama. And I got to stand right next to him in this photo (I’m in the blue dress), which has a more prominent place in my house than my wedding photo (sorry, husband).
