Navigating the internet And a name change.
An early-stage startup, formerly called Skeema, came to me looking for a new name. When your browser has a million tabs open (I am certainly guilty of this), their product helps simplify it so you can focus on what’s most important, and not worry about the rest.
Their original name was based on tech lingo that the average consumer (and many in their target market) weren’t as familiar with. So, they were looking for a new name that made clear to all types of people how they help you navigate your browser now, and how they’ll scale to become your whole digital life chief of staff in the future.
When I name a company, I look at thousands of words, and think through all the different meanings of them to try and find the perfect one (or combination/variation). So, when I found a word like “Skipper” that has multiple meanings, all of which pertain to what their product offers (and happened to start the same way as their old name), it felt so obviously right. And their team agreed.
