FRIDA UNCENSORED
Unfiltered. Unapologetic. Uncensored.
The media has censored women’s bodies for far too long.
Ads and educational content about things like how to get a good latch while breastfeeding, how to help heal your postpartum body and more are constantly blocked, blurred and black-barred. And at the same time, content about erectile dysfunction or a lotion for a man's “solo play time” is totally acceptable. (For real. I can’t make this stuff up). Because the moment a part of a woman's body is shown or merely mentioned, it’s sexualized. Even in the context of our health.
Frida is no stranger to this censorship. From being banned from putting the word “vagina” on billboards, to getting rejected by the Oscars for an ad showing a postpartum woman’s recovery. That’s why we launched Frida Uncensored, a platform full of unfiltered how-to videos, teaching women how to use important products that help with things like pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding. Without blurs or black bars.
The videos feature adult film actress and mom of two Asa Akira, who demonstrated things like how to use Frida Fertility’s home insemination kit to help with conception, and how to use Frida Mom’s perineal massage wand to help prepare for labor. More videos to come featuring real moms and moms-to-be who want to help the cause. The campaign also includes a partnership with the Center for Intimacy Justice, an organization fighting against content moderation policies that censor female sexual health and wellness information.
Because women’s health content isn’t explicit content. And it isn’t sensitive content.
It’s necessary content.
